The Great Outdoors

I'm sorry I havent posted the last couple days, but luckily my cousin BCB was so i would like to say thank you to her.
So this week I went to the Sequoia National Forest with my family and I had a spectacular time. From the hikes to the enormous redwoods and sequoia trees--everything was gorgeous. The campsite we stayed at was called Lodgepole and was beautiful. It came equipped with showers and bathrooms (thank goodness!). Everyone there was so friendly and the forest rangers always made sure you were having a good time.
Day 1: After the six hour drive to the forest, we arrived at the base camp. We first unpacked the food and put it in the food locker (so the bears wouldn't dare steal our food) and we started to set up the canopy, only to realize a few minutes later that a chipmunk had gotten into the open food locker and stolen a dorito chip. No doritos for me. I ate chili in a bread bowl for dinner and enjoyed a nice s'mores dessert by the campfire. I had a reAlly hard time sleeping that night and woke up four times during the night.
Day 2: The first destination on our trip was Crystal Cave. The cave was crazy beautiful and the hike there and back wAs an adventure on it's own. The next stop was a trip to a trail where we could take in the breathtaking beauty of the giant sequoias. We finished off the exhausting day with a dinner of brown rice, cucumber salad, lemon chicken, and potato salad. S'mores for dessert! :P
Day 3: another fun filled day greeted us. We started off the day with a bacon, egg, and toast breakfast. We headed out to Grant Grove and on the way there took way more than a few pictures at King Canyon. When we arrived at Grant Grove we went on a short hike to visit the famous tree and took more pictures. On the way back to camp we took a detour to a spectacular lake and enjoyed a little lunch of Club crackers, salami, and jalapeƱo cheese. When we got back to the base camp we went to the visitors center and I enjoyed a scoop of mint chip ice cream in a waffle cone, while my sister worked on her rocky road equivalent. We went back to camp and took a nap and woke up in time for dinner time. Our hot dog dinner was served and guess what? S'mores again for dessert. At 8 pm my sister, dad, and I went to the amphitheater for a presentation by one of the rangers educating us about fires as well as a story about how fire was created. We made our way back to camp and savored our last moments in the forest with the last log burning on the campfire.
Day 4: We packed up the tent and canopy, folded up the chAirs, rolled up the sleeping bags, and packed up our truck for the trip back home. We waved goodbye to our home away from home and drove off into the giant forest.
As you can see, I loved camping and would definitely go back again. Even with those sneaky chipmunks. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop
